Cherrapunji Tour Day-wise itinerary
Day 1 – Guwahati-Shillong via Umiam Lake
After your arrival at Guwahati Railway Station/Airport, our representative will welcome you and thereafter you will straight away head to Shillong. On the way, you will stop at Umiam Lake Viewpoint where you will get the most amazing view of this giant Umiam Lake. Spend some time at the lake and refresh yourself with the calm breeze coming from the lake. Later you will be taken to Shillong. Check-in to your hotel and freshen up. The evening is at leisure.
Day 2 – Dawki Mawlynnong – Riverside Camping
After you savour your delicious breakfast,you will be taken to Mawlynnong Village. Here you will explore the rural life of the village and also see the Living Root Bridge and the balancing rock. Later you will be taken to Indo-Bangladesh Border and also to Dawki river where you can do boating.The river bed can be clealry seen right from the surface of Dawki Lake. Don’t forget to click pictures at the Dawki River as you take a boat ride on the crystal clear waters. Thereafter head for Shnongpdeng village where you will do overnight camping at the riverside with bonfire.
Day 3 – Cherrapunji Tour
Early morning after relishing a sumptuous breakfast at the campsite head to Cherrapunji. You will visit Seven sister Falls, Nohkalikai Falls , Wei Sawdong Falls, Mawsmai Cave, Arwah Cave, and Eco Park from where you can see the Sylhet Plains of Bangladesh. In the evening drive to your hotel at Cherrapunji via a scenic route.
Day 4 – Cherrapunji – Shillong Sightseeing – Guwahati Tour
After breakfast check out from your hotel and head for a long day tour. You’ll visit Mawkdok Dympep Valley, Shillong Peak and Elephant Falls. Then you’ll be taken to Ward’s Lake and Shillong Golf Course. Thereafter you will drive to Guwahati City. You’ll enjoy the river cruise over the Brahmaputra River and then check-in to the hotel at Guwahati for an overnight stay.
Day 5 Departure
Today is the departure day, pack your belongings and check out from the hotel. We will drop you to Guwahati Airport/Railway Station for your onward journey.
Weather in Cherrapunjee
The weather in Cherrapunji is pleasant all throughout the year. This is because it is one of the wettest places on earth. There is maximum rainfall in Cherrapunji and greenery can be seen all over. The waterfalls look amazing during the monsoon which is the ideal time to visit Cherrapunji as nature’s beauty is at its peak. The maximum rainfall is during the months of June to September. October onwards the temperature goes down and is the best time to go there for pleasant weather. The maximum temperature here is around 23-24 degrees which is during March-April.
How to reach Cherrapunji
There is no airport or railway station in Cherrapunji, the nearest airport is the Umroi Airport, also known as the Shillong Airport.
If you want to reach Cherrapunjee by air, then you can either come to Shillong Airport from where Cherrapunji is about 79.6km. You can also take a flight to Guwahati airport which is around 163.7 km away. From there, you can hire a taxi to reach Cherrapunji.
Guwahati Railway Station is the closest railway station to reach Cherrapunji, so once you reach there, you will be easily able to get a taxi or get on a bus to reach Cherrapunji.
To travel by road, you can either take a bus to Shillong from where you can hire a cab to reach Cherrapunji.
You can also hire a Guwahati to Cherrapunji Taxi to reach Cherrapunji by road. It takes around 5 hours to reach from Guwahati to Cherrapunji.
